Kaziranga is a vast expanse of tall elephant grass, marshland, and dense tropical moist broadleaf forests, crisscrossed by four major rivers, including the Brahmaputra, and the park includes numerous small bodies of water.It is the headquarters of the East Khasi Hills district and is situated at an average altitude of 4,908 feet (1,496 m) above sea level, with the highest point being Shillong Peak at 6,449 feet (1,966 m). Shillong is the 330th most populous city in India with population of 143,007 according to the 2011 census. It is said that the rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland.
The name “cherrapunji” which means ‘land of oranges’ was first used by tourists from other parts of India. Local taxis also travel to Cherrapunji, and give you the option of stopping at a few viewpoints and sights on the way from Shillong to Cherrapunji (Elephant Falls, Mawkdok Dympep Valley View and others), as well as visiting spots in Cherrapunji (the Mawsmai Cave, Cherrapunji Eco Park, the Nohsngithiang Falls or Seven Sister Falls).

Day 1 : Guwahati Airport - Shillong
Welcome on arrival in Guwahati Airport / Railway Station & transfer to Shillong. En-route visit Umiam Lake or Barapani Lake, the biggest artificial lake in Meghalaya. It offers an incredible experience of sailing, water skiing, water scooter & other water sports activities (on direct payment basis) in midst of sylvan hills adorned by Khasi pines & peerless beauty.
Day 2 : Shillong - Cherrapunjee - Shillong
After breakfast excursion to Cherrapunjee. En-route visit Mawsmai Cave, Nohkalikai Falls, Thangkarang Park Elephanta Falls and Shillong Peak. Later return back to Shillong. Evening free to visit Local market / own activity.
Day 3 : Shillong - Kaziranga National Park
(Park will be open for visits from November to 30 April every year) After breakfast proceed for half day local sightseeing in Shillong including Ward’s Lake, Botanical Garden, Butterfly Museum, Lady Hydari Park, Mini zoo, Golf courses. (Depending upon a time). Afternoon transfer to Kaziranga National Park – The World Heritage Site is the oldest park in Assam & is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Kaziranga National Park is a natural habitat for conservation of biologically diverse flora & fauna. It is inhabited by the world’s largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses besides sheltering about 15 species of India’s threatened mammals. There are numerous other major wildlife fauna. Check in to Hotel.
Day 4 : Kaziranga - Guwahati
Early morning enjoy Elephant Safari at 5 am (on direct payment basis). Return for breakfast. After breakfast proceed for Jeep Safari in the Central Range (on direct payment basis). Afternoon transfer to Guwahati. On arrival at Guwahati visit Kalakshetra. Check into hotel.
Day 5 : Guwahati Airport Departure
After early breakfast checkout from hotel and visit Kamakhya Temple.
